On Spotify, finding a series of podcast episodes is hard. I ran a competitive analysis and 5 interviews. All 5 people found searching for a series frustrating.
Process
Fit it into what people already know
The design had to feel like Spotify: familiar gestures, familiar icons, and colours drawn from the podcast itself.
Solution
A Series section beside All Episodes
- A Series section sits beside All Episodes. Swipe or tap to switch.
- An accordion list shows each series with its description, plus follow, save, share and play.
- Thumbnails are coloured from the podcast image.
- Icons match Spotify's visual language.

What I learned
Small gaps frustrate everyone
A navigation gap can look small, yet every person I spoke to had felt it. The fix works best when it fits the product's existing patterns.
